The Camp Mitchell Board of Directors is pleased to announce the hiring of Rebecca Roetzel as our Executive Director as of August 2022.

Roetzel most recently served as the mission and outreach coordinator at Ferncliff Camp. Roetzel has a BA in Art Education and 15 years of experience writing and implementing experiential curriculum for summer camps and youth programs.

“I grew up attending a small church camp in the Pike National Forest of Colorado. Camp was my place of belonging, spiritual growth, and healing. The relationships I built at camp are life-long, unconditional, and almost indescribable,” Roetzel said. “For me, camp is sacred space. I am honored to step into this role at Camp Mitchell as we discern the best ways to work, worship, and play our way into wholeness with each other and the Divine.”

A native of western Kansas, Roetzel moved to Arkansas after college to volunteer at the Heifer Ranch in Perryville. She quickly fell in love with Arkansas and spent the next few years working for nonprofits, including Our House, Women & Children First, and Heifer HQ. Roetzel was a co-founder of The Root Café in Little Rock and is an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Little Rock.

In her free time, she enjoys singing in the choir, feeding people, and traveling to visit her many sisters. She lives in the country near Perryville with her husband, Mike, and their two young children.
